I stared at the bulletin that someone had placed in my front door, like the lawn-care people do. But clowns? What misguided marketer would blindly pass out flyers to a clown and magic convention? I wadded up the flyer, but then thought of the clown pedaling through the neighborhood the day that Sundown was murdered. I glanced at the other homes on the street. None had the fluorescent yellow flyer stuck in their door. I unfolded the crumpled paper. It was today at the Palladium, in downtown Saint Pete. Then I saw what I’d missed in my haste to toss it. Across the bottom someone had scrawled “Looking forward to meeting you.”

In case you missed it the first time around: I loathe clowns.
